The mother wound is the wound of love.
And we might spend many years looking for the love we never received. Searching for this sense of being loved as we are, even the parts that we deemed unworthy.
But what if we are looking in the wrong place?
What if there is something that already unconditionally loves you, with all your flaws and imperfections?
What if you already belong, and are accepted exactly as you are?
This is where the idea of the great mother comes into play. And she is more than just an idea. Carl Jung explored her as the great mother archetype. Andean shamans call her Pachamama. Others address her as Gaia, the earth we stand on, the air we breathe, the fruit we eat.
Now, this sounds great. But how exactly does that help you to fill a void, a pain inside you from the love you never received as a child?
To answer that, I want to share with you the following: Recently I was on stage in front of hundreds of people, guiding a practice on connecting with the great mother archetype. People had incredibly powerful experiences with this energy, the energy where you already belong, you are accepted as you are. From tingling sensations, energy moving, deep releases, a feeling of being held by something greater.
You can actually connect with this energy. And it will start to heal the parts of your heart that have not been loved properly, even the parts you deem unworthy.
So here is where this gets practical:
What if the love you are looking for everywhere, is the love of the great mother? The love of something greater holding you, telling you: Yes, you belong here. And you are accepted exactly as you are.
Words are one thing. But experiencing this in your body, as a living reality, is beyond sweet. It is incredibly moving because something deeper inside you, your soul, starts to remember.
And what do you remember?
You don’t need unconditional love from your physical mother. You are already unconditionally loved by the great mother.
You don’t need acceptance by groups of people out there. You are already infinitely accepted by the great mother.
You don’t need to find a place to belong, because you already belong.
How does that realization change your life?
It changes how you live, how you walk, how you breathe!
If you are already infinitely loved… then you have so much love to give. Your heart is full. Literally.
If you are already infinitely accepted and belong… then you are living from a state of wholeness, or more unity.
Life becomes more joyful, more wonderful, more beautiful, in every way.
