Nothing in our life shifts or changes unless our energy changes.
This truth applies to relationships more than anything else.
You can say all the right things. You can even do the right things. But if your energy is not aligned—if you’re operating from resentment, negativity, or disconnection—your efforts will only go so far.
- 7% of communication is verbal (the actual words spoken).
- 38% of communication is vocal (tone, pitch, inflection).
- 55% of communication is nonverbal (body language, gestures, facial expressions).
And both nonverbal and vocal communication are determined by your energy.
As the saying goes: “The body does not lie.” You can smile through deep pain, but others will sense the truth beneath the surface.
We often focus too much on the wrong things—saying the right words or trying to fix the external situation—when what really matters is shifting our energy. If you want to experience a true breakthrough in the depth of connection and intimacy in your relationship, you must first shift your internal state.
Have you ever apologized from the heart, truly feeling sorry, versus saying “sorry” out of resentment or obligation? The first is heart-opening; the second feels inauthentic and often creates more tension. There is a world of difference between the two.
This is why relationships can become our highest spiritual practice. They reveal to us, much more quickly than solitude ever could, when we are out of alignment. Conscious relationships, in particular, are master teachers.
My question to you is:
- What do you actively do daily to shift your energy?
- In moments of tension, how do you process and integrate afterwards?
A Practice to Shift Your Energy:
The next time your heart feels shut down, you feel yourself withdrawing, or becoming overly anxious, take 5 minutes to shake it out.
- Allow your body to move in nonlinear ways—shake like a lunatic.
- Let sounds emerge naturally. Giggling, sighing, or awkward noises are part of the process.
- If you hear an inner voice saying, “Stop acting ridiculous,” recognize this as the voice of shame, a conditioned response ingrained in us.
After fully shaking, notice how your energy shifts. Your body feels more open, expansive, and ready to process and reconnect. This simple practice can ignite profound shifts in your intimate life.
