We all know the obvious wounds: a parent who left, moments of being shamed, feeling unseen.
But most of the pain that shapes us is more subtle. It hides in your nervous system, in your body, in your patterns. Pain you never even realized was there.
In my private coaching, I often sense the pain before my clients do. It reveals itself by sadness or hurt masked by toughness. The pain behind “… that’s just how they were. I gotta deal with it.” Or behind striving to be the exact opposite of their mother or father.
This isn’t about digging up more problems. It’s about honoring what’s true inside you.
There’s pain stored in your body that only surfaces when you slow down, drop the mental story, and actually feel.
It’s about the quiet resentments. The longing to still be seen by them. Not so you can be hurt again—but so you can finally see yourself, fully.
It can sound like:
- I’ve done so much inner work, but I still seek their approval.
- I still shrink when I talk to them.
- I still feel loyal, even after everything that has happened.
This isn’t failure. It’s radical self-honesty. And in that honesty, a deeper surrender becomes possible.
What I’m saying is: the ego can spin a comforting story about how healed we are. But if we truly look inside, we find deeper layers still asking to be felt, seen, recognized, and integrated.
So what does this actually mean?
It means dropping the story of healing.
Dropping where we think we should be by now.
Dropping the performance of progress.
And simply getting in touch with what’s real.
Ah—here it is again.
And then choosing to face it fully, again and again.
When we let go of the story of healing, we create space for deeper acceptance, compassion, and surrender.
Because we’re no longer resisting by trying to control it.
We simply say: I trust the deeper path.
If it comes up again, it’s because there’s something here for me.
A place to soften. A place to open.
A place to go even deeper.
That’s when the work reaches a truly profound layer.
